Apr 16, 2018He was born May 8, 1949, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Earl B. and Helen L. McDaniel Ashcraft of Enterprise.On December 10, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Debra Lynn Stalnaker Ashcraft who he loved and cherished for nearly 50 years.He is also survived by his son, Chadwick “Chad” Ashcraft; his beloved grandchildren, Paul, Katie Jo, Molly, and Chad; his sister, Cathy Kovalck and her husband Michael of Enterprise; and his two nephews, Jason Kovalck and his wife Barbie of Enterprise; and Patrick Kovalck and his wife Abby of Shinnston; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.Ron was a 1967 graduate of Shinnston High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a Helicopter Crew Chief in Germany. He was employed at D&M Welding and Swanson Plating. He retired from Graftech (formerly Union Carbide) as a Mill Wright and Welder in July of 2014.He pastored at Viola Union Mission Church for 7 years. He served as President of the Clarksburg Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Ron loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. As a child, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. From that moment on, his main priority was to lead others to Christ. He shared God’s love with everyone he met.The family will receive friends at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on Wednesday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Pastors Rich Buonaiuto and Duane Bartrug officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army and Taylor County Honor Guard.
